Understanding

A few days after the fox encounter, Dappledstar had been giving out orders often, and kept the patrols high just in case the fox decided to come back. The pretty calico felt confident that she knew what she was doing, and had a little more understanding, but much was still be learned.

Leafbreeze woke up to the sound of a morning dove quietly making its announcement of dawn. As she stepped out of her den dew fell from the sage giving of a soft sweet smell; joy filled her belly as she couldn't smell the sickness that once lingered in the camp. Mist swirled around the camp as dawn broke, the pretty black and white she-cat trotted over to her leader's den. "Dappledstar.." only her head popped in to see Dappledstar slowly blinking her amber eyes. The calico cat stretched her sore body out as she slowly began to wake up. Dappledstar shook out her pelt and sat up, "Come in...", she said through a yawn. Leafbreeze  came in and sat down. "when do you plan on leaving?' she said quietly. "Today. I want to get this out of the way, so we can go today. Just let everyone wake up so i can give orders." the smaller cat nodded and stepped out. "maybe now things will make sense. A better understanding.." the young leader said to herself.

Dreamer's Cave

The Dreamer's cave is where Jayclan goes to speak with Starclan. The entrance is only big enough for a cat or smaller, but as you step in there is a big open area with a small stream that pools up, farther in the cave it goes where no one dares. the floor is covered with dry soft moss; the water every night is a clear blue. the cave is just South of Jayclan camp.

New Members and a Message from Starclan

        Three sunrises have passed since the death of the leader, Sandstar, and the fight between Fireflower and Dappledstar. Things seemed to have gone back to normal expect the glares Fireflower has passed to Dappledstar. New members have followed short after the deaths, Smokepelt, Raggedfur, Thornstrike, Navy who has refused to take an apprentice name, and one with a grouchy attitude now named Spiderbite have by change stumbled upon Jayclan.. Mistypaw has favored Navy, but the dark-gray she-cat has been a bit harsh to the other clan mate due to trust issues. Fireflower has always been known to like a cat she just barely met, and has found herself liking Thornstrike and Raggedfur. Spiderbite has been a thorn in everyone's fur if they bothered him, "Leave me alone you mouse-brain of a warrior." his yowls of insults fill the camp with negativity. After a few nights of not sleeping Dappledstar has been visited by Starclan. She woke up in a foggy forest with no one else in sight. "Hello? Is anyone their?", she mewed to the empty clearing that seemed to echo forever into emptiness. Dappledstar began to walk forward or what felt that was forward. Bright familiar yellow eyes began to appear in front of the calico she-cat. "Sandstar?" her head tilted as she spoke. The she-cat couldn't get close enough to identify the cat fully, but she felt like it was Jayclan's old leader. "Dappledfoot, you must find a place to get your nine lives..." she stopped trying to get closer. "But you said Starcl-" Sandstar stopped her, "I know what I said, but I was wrong...they are here, to help, and guide you. Find a place to get your nine lives, and you're wrong, you are ready..." Dappledstar's fur began to bristle at the sound of him still calling her Dappledfoot. "Wait!" she had more questions but the dream began to fade when Sandstar's eyes disappeared. "Wait Sandstar!" Dappledstar jolted awake, the sun was just barely climbing over the horizon. No time was to be wasted, she jumped up onto the High Rock and called the whole clan together. "Cats of Jayclan! Join me here at the High Rock for a clan meeting!"

Pain and Confusion

   Dappledfoot looked around as bodies were carried out of came to be buried kits, elders warriors, this sickness took almost the whole clan. No one knew what too their lives, it couldn't have been greencough it killed everyone. She sighed in sadness watching her beautiful brown tabby sister be carried out with the rest. The she-cat looked down then her gaze shifted over to Sandstar's den, he hadn't been out all day whats wrong with him? Dappledfoot trotted over to his den peering in through the sage. She could see his body laying down motionless.  "Sandstar?", she didn't receive an answer the she-cat began to worry. Did the illness take him too!? Dappledfoot stepped into his sandy den to see him laying stiffly. "Sandstar?" she sniffed at hes sandy pelt and came closer. Dappledfoot froze stiff in her tracks. "No! Get up, get up Sandstar!"she hissed shaking him by the scruff, but no movement came from him. Dappledfoot wasn't ready to become the leader she may have been deputy but she had no idea how to care for the whole clan. She silently hissed and cursed to herself before she dragged him out to the grassy clearing. Brackenfur, Fireflower, and Mistypaw the other last remaining cats came up breathless looking down at their deceased leader. "The illness got him too...", Dappledfoot mumbled to the others. "That's not possible..." mewed Fireflower. "yes it is and the proof is at your paws..." Dappledfoot looked at her with sympathetic eyes but had to face that face herself. "What now Dappledfoot?" Brackenfur said looking up with eyes that have been glazed with sorrow and pain. "We don't have time to mourn for him now, we have to stay as if nothing happened..." Brackenfur and Mistypaw nodded in understanding, but Fireflower hissed in protest, "No something did happen we cant just pretend it didn't!" Dappledfoot looked over at her, "Maybe i didn't make myself clear...we have to move on this is life! things happen for a reason!"she stayed calm but raised her voice. "No he would have wan-" Fireflower was cut off by her deputy. "Sandstar would have wanted us to move on, and keep this clan strong! Don't argue with me because you will not win this one i can assure you that!" Fireflower then fell silent her pale green eyes twisted with pain and confusion. everyone fell silent after that and just followed orders from then on. "whats your name now?", asked Mistypaw as they all walked back from burring the last cat. "My name will now be...Dappledstar." Starclan help us...I can't do this on my own...
